Why You Should Relocate to Vermont

Known for its cheddar cheese, maple syrup, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and over 100 19th-century covered bridges, Vermont should be on your list if you're considering a relocation. And now, more than ever, might be the best time to pack up and move to the Green Mountain State, which was voted the #1 best state to live in in 2018. Why? Because for a short time, you can get paid to do it.

Recently, the Vermont Legislature has come out with various relocation incentives to attract new residents and grow the workforce in the state. Several grants will pay up to $7,500 to new residents who take a qualifying job in Vermont. There is even a grant to encourage remote workers to move to the state and continue to work for an out-of-state employer. And, the state may also reimburse some qualifying relocation expenses like hiring a moving company, renting equipment, or shipping costs.

If you’re not considering a relocation, at least consider visiting Vermont to check out the following must-visit attractions.

Stowe, VT
Stowe is the quintessential image of Vermont with a covered bridge, barns, shops, galleries, and ski trails. You can even take a peek at Vermont's early ski industry by visiting the Vermont Ski Museum or visiting Stowe Mountain Resort. Visitors can also walk around the local boutiques, art galleries, and lodgings. There are also plenty of trails for bicycling or walking to take in the views of Mt. Mansfield.

Montpelier, VT
Montpelier is the smallest state capital in the United States, but it's big enough to offer most of the things a big city would. Visit Montpelier to experience a typical New England town full of live music, a theatre and art cinema, and many historic buildings of Greek Revival-style architecture.

Burlington, VT
Burlington is one of Vermont’s most vibrant cities located on the shores of Lake Champlain, another must-see attraction that offers plenty of activities for all seasons. Burlington includes a large aquarium, museums, and many shops along its marketplace, making it the perfect stop for a day trip or place to spend a few days.
