Mark* and his wife, Catherine like to spend most of their winter in Punta Cana to escape Illinois’ cold weather. Halfway through their stay, Mark who has a history of spinal disc herniation and sciatica, woke up with no motor and sensory functions in his left leg. He was immediately taken to the nearest hospital.

Catherine called Global Travel Plus for help. One of Global Travel Plus' Spanish-speaking coordinators immediately reached out to the local treating physician who stated that the hospital had no neurosurgeon and MRI, and therefore was not suited to treat Mark. Since hospitals on the island do not comply with Global Travel Plus' strict standards, the coordinator arranged for an emergency medical evacuation to a qualified hospital in Florida.

Mark and his wife were evacuated via air ambulance to Florida in the evening. After a series of examinations, Mark was diagnosed with radiculopathy disease and was taken to the OR for a back surgery. When Mark was finally cleared for travel, Global Travel Plus arranged and paid for his repatriation to a rehabilitation center in Illinois via business class commercial flight and door-to-door ground transportation with a medical escort. Mark and his wife are thankful for Global Travel Plus' assistance during these trying times

TESTIMONIAL:

We could not have come home without the help of Global Travel Plus whose services were top-notch!” - Mark & Catherine
