A member, Nora*, and her husband Jim* were on a road trip to Montana when they had an untimely accident. Nora suffered major injury to the head while her husband sustained a broken shoulder. Nora and Jim were immediately rushed to the hospital. Nora was advised to remain hospitalized for observation for a week until further assessment of her condition was completed. With Nora’s extended stay at the hospital, the couple were not able to return home on their scheduled flight. Jim aware of the value added services available while on travel, reached out to the Global Travel Plus team for the much needed help to return back home.

Global Travel Plus coordinators monitored Nora’s condition immediately and informed her treating medical team and the couple themselves about the repatriation procedures. Faced with consistent high fevers, Nora’s discharge was further delayed. Once Nora was cleared for travel by the medical team, coordinators arranged ground transportation from the hospital to the airport for Nora and her husband.

An air ambulance and a medical escort to travel with the patient was also arranged for the journey home. After ensuring the proper medication was readily prepared by the treating team, Nora was ready to return home. Ground transportation was also readily available from the airport to the couple’s home.

Thankfully, Nora and her husband focused their time on recovering and reached home safely.

Upon the completion of his trip, Jim shared, “All the personnel involved in our transfer were professional and very compassionate. I am very grateful for the service and care that was provided for us. You are a wonderful organization that we will recommend to others when they are away from home and in need of a service like yours.”
